2024 Asian Rowing Indoor Championships Concludes Successfully in Penang, Malaysia

The 2024 Asian Rowing Indoor Championships (ARICH) took place from August 10th to 11th at the Straits Quay Retail Marina in Penang, Malaysia. The event attracted robust participation, with around 186 athletes representing 11 Member Federations (MFs) from across Asia, underscoring the growing popularity and competitive spirit of indoor rowing in the region.

THA emerged as the overall champion, securing an impressive 18 gold medals, showcasing their dominance in various categories. MAS, the host nation, closely followed with 15 gold medals and the highest total medal count of 42, marking a significant achievement on their home ground. SRI and KSA also delivered strong performances, securing third and fourth places in the medal standings, respectively.

A highlight of the championship was the Open Men’s 2000m single event, where KOR’s Seo Sung Woo and Park Ji Su tied for first place with an outstanding time of 6:11.0, setting new Asian indoor records during the competition. In fact, this event altogether saw four athletes broke the record, further elevating the prestige of the event. They are:
