From 31th August to 2nd September, 2017, the 2017 ARF Para-rowing Classification Workshop was held successfully in Pattaya, Thailand. There were 17 candidates from 5 nations participating in the Workshop.
Lecture of the workshop
Two experienced lecturers, Ms. Shirley Stokes and Ms. Tarina van der Stockt from FISA were invited to conduct the workshop.
Demonstration how to do the classification of the workshop
In the three day workshop, first day was lecture and demonstration of classification process; the second day was practical day for the trainees, as one medical and one technical trainee forming a pair to act as a formal diagnose to get more experiences; the third day was on-water observation, to learn about more of the observation to how assess the athletes’ condition under the real rowing situation.
Practice of the classification
After the three-day workshop, the participants learnt a lot about the knowledge of rower classify and will bring their experiences to their own National Federations to help the development of the para-rowing. This is a seed for para-rowing growing around Asia.
